The Storm and the Crash revisits the weekend in October 1987 when southern Britain was flattened by a hurricane. After England had been ravaged by the fiercest storm in centuries, forty eight hours later 'Black Monday' saw the collapse of share prices in the City that threatened to bring the country's economy to its knees. Through first person testimonies this film tells the story of these two cataclysmic events and the shockwaves they sent through Britain. As one futures traders says " It felt like the end of capitalism."
